The Raymond M. Pocino Challenge Coin

Born of strife and struggle, LIUNA members have been uniting for better lives since the 1836 when the first recognized Laborers union was established in Philadelphia. Hundreds of Laborers Local Unions existed across North America at the turn of the century but they were only admitted to the early AFL as "Federal Locals."

Awarding the Pocino Challenge Coin

We suggest you award the Challenge Coin at highly visible events—a membership meeting, a party, picnic, or special event. Take photos to use in your communications. If there is a unique story to be told, let NJ LECET communications staff know about it and they may cover the story.

Step it up! The Pocino Challenge Coin commemorates outstanding contributions to the Union. Maybe you want to add your own swag to the award—a piece of clothing, a gift certificate, a thermos, lunch cooler, or something else.

DON'T
just hand them out to folks, friends, and co-workers.
DO
use the challenge coin as an opportunity to reward exemplary behavior and contributions to the Union.
